Screening in Cape Dorset

November 21st, 2010 Categories: Uncategorized,

About 150 inhabitants of Cape Dorset came out to the community centre last night (November 20) for a screening of “Kinngait: Riding Light Into The World”.  Director Annette Mangaard and I were apprehensive as this would be our toughest audience.  After all, the film is about them and their cooperative! Luckily, I was able to find an adapter that allowed me to plug the audio from the computer into a guitar amp so we could have sound to accompany the film. Everything went off without hitch.  There was a mixed crowd that included elders, artists from the Kinngait Studio, teens, toddlers, and even some weather stranded doctors. Apart from the younger kids running around there was attentive silence from the audience as the film played.  At the end there was a really nice applause. No Q&A but there was a lot of shaking of hands as people left the hall. People really liked the film! It was really important for us to be here to present the film in the community.  Now it really feels the film is launched and will begin to have a life on its own.
