Caribou Mottos

Caribou Mottos is a project by Professor Katherine Knight, York University that explores a collection of Victorian era punched paper pattern needlepoint mottos collected in Caribou, Pictou County, Nova Scotia. This site documents each piece in the collection accompanied by interpretive essays and other contextualizing information.

Katherine Knight Photography Website

Katherine Knight is known for her landscape based photographic works and her documentary films on art and culture. She is a recipient of the Duke and Duchess of York Prize in recognition of excellence in photography. This site documents over three decades of photographic and artistic work.

Memory Factory

This website commemorates the fishing industry of Caribou Harbour, Pictou County, Nova Scotia. In a series of short vignettes, people who live in the area or grew up there share their memories of Maritime Packers and the people who worked there. In its time Maritime Packers, a lobster and seafood packing plant, was one of the largest of its kind anywhere in the world and a pioneer in shipping live lobster to the eastern United States.
